The Offseason
When we’re not racing: you’ll still usually find us outdoors. We love spending all of our free time outside, whether it’s fishing, hunting, boating, jetskiing: we enjoy the four diverse seasons that Minnesota provides us with.
If you’re friends with either of us on Facebook, chances are you’ve already seen a few of our escapades. If not, here’s just a sampling of what we spend the offseason doing:
In spring, we are usually cursing the snow melt. Not only does it mark the end of the snowmobiling season, it also marks the end of ice fishing. But, it does mean that the soft-water fishing season is about to start! Early spring you can usually find us up on the Rainy River, fishing for sturgeon. Once walleye season is open, you’ll find us on Vermilion and Matt usually makes a few trips up to Canada for walleye and lake trout.
In summer, you’ll find us out on our stand up jetskis or out on a boat. We love summer about as much as we love winter. We’ve been known to frequent the lakes around Duluth but will be seen on Lake Vermilion more often in the future. We can also be found fishing and camping.
In the fall, we’re all about hunting seasons. Ducks, geese, pheasants and grouse keep us occupied until deer season, when we spend every waking moment out in our stands. We’ve got 40 acres that we hunt on, along with areas that our families have hunted for years.
Throughout the year, we enjoy traveling – usually to go fishing in random places. We’ve also been known to go on crazy day trips for craigslist purchases… Oh, you found a Deere in southern Wisconsin? Let’s go! Or: Hey, there’s this sled in Marquette… let’s drive there and back after work tonight!
Whatever time of year it is, we’re usually off on some crazy adventure. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
